Elizabeth Jane Hurley has been a model and actor in England since the late 1980s. In 1990, she was rumored to have been Hugh Grant's girlfriend. This song sparked controversy, with some critics accusing it of encouraging the same-sex relationship and others saying that the sexually explicit scenario depicted was designed to appeal to the male fantasies. I Kissed a Girl became a worldwide number-one hit due to the combination of excitement and an elegant melodic tune. The song also assisted her to sell more albums, including the album One of the Boys. Hot N Cold, Perry's energetic and sharply-tongued record with the song that was its second biggest hit was a hit. The album that Perry wrote herself sold more than three million copies.
