Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. Beginning in 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell participated on a panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005 Mitchell was awarded the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contributions to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively along with President Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
